8,940 chickens died in the latest outbreak of bird flu in China.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, government officals in China report that the latest H5N1 outbreak claimed nearly 9000 chickens in the Liaoning province on October 26.

Authorities killed an additional 369,900 birds in an attempt to control the outbreak.

The outbreak was the fourth in three weeks.



Reuters Reports that China's Army is requesting its soldiers to watch for bird flu.

The army wants troops to be aware of the symptoms of bird flu to help detect infection within the ranks.
